In this video I talk about the idea of “setting my sights.” I think it is really important to have an idea of what you would like to see in your life. In fact, that is really what The Fun Side Of Life is about. It is about making the decision that you would like your life to be a certain way.

If you don’t do that, if you don’t set your sights, then you are leaving everything up to chance. I have done that for years and it’s a terrible way to live. I would wake up and set about my day waiting for the world to tell me how to feel! Traffic would be bad so I’d feel bad or traffic would be good so I’d feel good. People were nice to me at the store so I’d feel good or people weren’t nice so I’d feel bad.

I’d spend my whole life reacting to the world around me and allowing those reactions to determine my thoughts, emotions and actions. I try not to do that any more! That is why, in these videos and the blog posts that go with them, I talk a lot about choosing my thoughts and again, that idea is probably the biggest component of The Fun Side Of Life.

If I’ve set my sights and if I make the decision ahead of time that I want to enjoy myself, that I want to look for and find fun, then, if something comes up, if the “world tries to flip me upside down,” as the song says, it is much easier for me to land “Sunny Side Up!”

I wrote this song for our son Eric. I was thinking about the one thing I hope for him. I have tons of hopes and dreams for him but the main one, my biggest underlying hope for him is that he loves his life and learns to look at it in a way that makes him feel good!

Thanks for being here!
